After acquiring Tama Bay's Mikhail Sergachev, Utah Hockey Club is reportedly targeting another top defenseman in a massive trade with Calgary: Rasmus Andersson.

The Utah Hockey Club has been working overtime in the offseason to solidify a high-profile team for its first year as a rebranded NHL franchise. As part of this daunting mission, they traded away forward Connor Geekie, defenseman J. J. Moser, and two draft picks for star defenseman Mikhail Sergachev.
"🚨 BIG TRADE ALERT 🚨

Mikhail Sergachev is heading to Utah!"
However, Utah's job of acquiring a prolific defenseman may not be over quite yet. According to Roger Hicks, rumor has it that Utah is looking to broker a deal for Rasmus Andersson of the Calgary Flames. He will potentially be traded for a prospect and picks in upcoming NHL drafts.
"#Flames and #UtahHC have reportedly discussed a trade involving Rasmus Andersson for picks and a prospect. Trying to find out more on this. #NHL"
Though this remains little more than a rumor, the likelihood of the Flames trading Rasmus Andersson for a better chance at a rebuild is greater than zero. Provided that recent 6th overall draft pick Tij Iginla has expressed that he would have preferred to go to Calgary, he may be the prospect in Utah's trade discussions.
"Tij Iginla reportedly unhappy with Utah Hockey Club #NHL"
Regardless of what gets put on the table for the Calgary Flames, the Utah Hockey Club will have their work cut out for them in the upcoming season. Hopefully, they can get the defensive players they are looking for.
