The New York Rangers have acquired Stanley Cup Champion Reilly Smith from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for draft picks.

The former cup champion with the Vegas Golden Knights has been traded for a 2nd and a 5th round pick.

Sounds like Pittsburgh is trading Reilly Smith to the Rangers

Draft picks are the return

A quiet start to the day in the city that never sleeps. But it looks like they have a move waiting in the wings. Will it be the right fit? Let's see if this former misfit is a match.

2nd rounder + 5th as return for Reilly Smith.

Reilly Smith, acquired by NYR, is a middle six winger who's pretty good at pretty much everything but could not give the Penguins the scoring they desperately needed from him. Not the fastest skater but still a factor on the rush.

Reilly Smith is in the final year of his $5M deal and his projected value comes in at... $4.9M. Nice. Solid get for the Rangers to give the team some punch on the wings in the top nine.
