The Toronto Maple Leafs have still not made a decision on Mitchell Marner, as trading him will not be an easy process. GM Brad Treliving may have had a turnaround.

Per Toronto Maple Leafs insider Chris Johnston, the Toronto Maple Leafs are no longer 100% committed to trading Mitchell Marner, despite rumours that the core four was inevitably going to break up after this year's first round exit to the Boston Bruins.

While the team would certainly like to move on from Mitchell Marner, as he is the scapegoat of their playoff issues, his large salary of $10.903 million, and his full no move clause makes things far too complicated, and the Maple Leafs do not want to get worse in the deal.

The Leafs are not completely committed to trading Mitch Marner yet. There's still some uncertainty and consideration involved in making the final decision.

«The Leafs are not leaning on Mitch Marner right now. They have not decided 100 percent they have to trade him and or that they're going to make life uncomfortable and they're getting the list of names. None of that's what's going on.»

While it is not impossible that a Mitchell Marner trade still goes down, things are looking much less likely now. It will be interesting to see what Brad Treliving does with the core four of the aforementioned Marner, William Nylander, John Tavares, and of course Auston Matthews.
