It's official, Sheldon Keefe has been fired by the Toronto Maple Leafs following another first-round exit.

Formerly Kyle Dubas' right-hand man, Sheldon Keefe was retained by the new management regime of Brad Treliving, but has now been fired following the Maple Leafs' loss to the Boston Bruins.

Leafs GM Treliving: «Today's decision was difficult. Sheldon is an excellent coach and a great man; however, we determined a new voice is needed to help the team push through to reach our ultimate goal. We thank Sheldon for his hard work and dedication to the organization over the last nine years, and wish him and his family all the very best.»

This is major news for the Toronto Maple Leafs, who will likely make many more moves this offseason to move on from this era of disappointment. Sheldon Keefe was signed for two more years on a new extension.

We will see what is next for Sheldon Keefe this offseason most likely.
