The Ottawa Senators need to make some big moves this summer, and unfortunately, the early returns aren't good with their new Head Coach.

After another disappointing year, the Ottawa Senators were set up for a huge summer with many decisions to make, but already, it appears they made the wrong choice as they officially announced Travis Green as their next Head Coach.

The move was already drawing widespread criticism, but after the latest update from Elliotte Friedman, things may be worse in Ottawa than initially feared.

Elliotte Friedman on the Jeff Marek show mentions Ottawa and Berube went far but tiptoes around the fact that money was the issue there

According to Friedman, the Senators were deep in conversation with Stanley Cup winning Head Coach Craig Berube, but ultimately went with Green, inferring that the team cheaped out and didn't want to pay the former Blues boss. There's still plenty of time left in the summer for Ottawa to upgrade their roster, but for now, it looks like they may be in for a rough few years unless Green can turn this team around against the odds.

With the future of Sheldon Keefe up in the air, Berube may be looking to land with the other team in Ontario, but for now, all we do know is that Ottawa may have made a pivotal mistake as they look to come out of their long rebuild.
