The City of Vancouver is preparing for a deep playoff run from the Canucks, but it's forced them into a harsh decision regarding watch parties.

With the Canucks heading to Nashville tied at 1-1 in their first round playoff series, there's a watch party planned at Rogers Arena, but given the history of the city when it comes to playoff hockey, their Mayor has made an interesting decision.

According to Ken Sim, all public viewings of the game have been cancelled due to security concerns, and it's safe to say that the call is not sitting well with fans and reporters.

Ken Sim basically admitting that holding a #Canucks outdoor playoff viewing party would risk having another riot.

There's going to be 10,000 people having a viewing party at Rogers Arena tonight. Why isn't anyone worried about a riot there? Is it because there's security?

For fans of teams in the playoffs, watch parties are often incredible ways to enjoy the game with the similar atmosphere of attending a game, and while it makes sense that the Mayor of Vancouver is worried about public safety, it doesn't mean that fans shouldn't be disappointed over the decision.
