The Tampa Bay Lightning are gearing up for another playoff run, but they've made many people furious with the introduction of an intriguing new arena rule.

Last season, the Florida Panthers banned people with Ontario ID's from purchasing away tickets to their playoff series against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and now the other Florida team is looking to do something similar. According to a new post on X, the Tampa Bay Lightning are imposing a new rule about a specific section in the arena where away colours/jerseys will be prohibited.

Tampa fans, tell me this is only a joke..

Any NHL team that does this is weak, really going to prohibit someone from wearing their team merchandise when they spent hundreds of dollars on a ticket to watch the game..

Thought we were homies TBL

All over Europe and in most football countries, this is routinely a custom, where there is a specific section for away fans to sit, but now it appears other fans aren't too happy with the idea in the NHL. Ultimately though, this rule applies to just the club area, so away fans can still take in the action in Tampa Bay, so let's hope this doesn't discourage anyone from attending, especially in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
