Macklin Celebrini is on track to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, and now someone very close to him has revealed a surprising preference.

The 2023-24 regular season is all but over, and while some teams focus on their chase for the Stanley Cup, others will look towards the summer and most importantly, the 2024 NHL Draft. It has now been confirmed that the San Jose Sharks have the highest odds to land the No. 1 pick on that night, and that comes as great news to at least one person.

That person would be Rick Celebrini, the Director of Sports Medicine for the Golden State Warriors, who are based in San Francisco, and given how far away teams like Chicago, Ottawa, Montreal and Calgary are, it comes as no shock that he wants his son in San Jose.

«It'd be amazing. We talk about it all the time,» Rick Celebrini, father of the Livermore-based clan, told San Jose Hockey Now this week. «We try not to go there either. Because it's out of our hands, and you really don't want to be disappointed either. But as a family, it would be unbelievable to have him here with us in the Bay where we can help him and support him

On top of how close they would be, the Sharks are building a fantastic young core led by the likes of William Eklund, David Edstrom, Quentin Musty and Will Smith. The addition of Celebrini would give them perhaps the most talented young core in the NHL, so while he knows it's not guaranteed, it's safe to say that the Celebrini's will be hoping that the odds are in their favor when the draft lottery rolls around.
