John Tortorella hasn't always been the easiest person to deal with in the media, but now he's stunned reporters in Philadelphia with an apology over recent comment.

Recently, the Flyers went down to the Florida Panthers 4-1 in a valiant effort, but it wasn't quite enough for Head Coach John Tortorella.

When asked about the game, Tortorella showed frustration in the teams lack of goal scoring ability in the matchup, but it was his answer, or non-answer of another question that drew the most attention. Felix Sandstrom was solid in the game, but the 27-year old just couldn't get it done, and when asked about it, Tortorella simply placed his palms on the podium and ended the media availability.

Now, in uncharacteristic fashion, the veteran, old-school Head Coach has apologized for the way he handled that situation;

Tortorella this morning apologized for his non-response when asked about goalie Felix Sandstrom's play Sunday: "I made a terrible mistake with you guys the other night. You might have asked me about Sanny. My body language was wrong. What I should have said to you was he tried. Sanny tried. Things happened this year that put our goaltending situation into a state of flux. Sanny did not deserve that from me. You had the perfect right to ask that question. He did not deserve that from me. It was wrong."

This was a great step forward and a classy move from a veteran coach that's never been easy to deal with for some in the media, so hopefully he can show this type of personality more often in interviews going forward.
