Vegas GM Kelly McCrimmon has been a wizard when it comes to juggling the team's cap space and their ability to acquire superstars for their already stacked team.

After placing forward Mark Stone on LTIR, with an injury, GM Kelly McCrimmon went on an absolute shopping spree heading into the trade deadline, by acquiring former Washington Capital Anthony Mantha, Noah Hanifin from the Calgary Flames, and the late deadline day blockbuster involving long time Shark, Tomas Hertl. Golden Knights make the most surprising trade Hertl, who is yet to make his debut with the Vegas Golden Knights, has now been placed on the long term injury reserve.

Tomas Hertl placed on LTIR

It was announced over the weekend, that Tomas Hertl was placed on LTIR by the Vegas Golden Knights to call up Jiri Patera. Despite McCrimmon saying that Hertl wouldn't be placed on LTIR at the trade deadline presser, he has clearly contradicted himself.

Despite many teams drawing concern due to the fact of teams who are taking advantage of the LTIR system, it appears Gary Bettman sees no issue in the LTIR system and says no changes are needed.Commissioner has no issues with LTIR

It's hard to imagine many teams able to beat the Vegas Golden Knights heading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a healthy roster. Vegas are showing a real chance at becoming the first NHL team to two peat since the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020-21.
