Here's a real big shocker for a Saturday afternoon. Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand has been punished by officials are going on a tirade over a hit he didn't like.

Marchand, who recently hit a major milestone for overtime goals in the NHL, was skating to the bench after taking a hit from Erik Johnson of the Philadelphia Flyers. Marchand was hobbling after what appeared to be a collision that caught him in the knee. After having a few far more subtle words with one of the officials, Marchand opens the door to the bench and then goes off. Whatever he said after slamming the door to the bench and his stick on the ice is anyone's guessing. I doubt he was inviting the referee over for a dinner party, though.

"Brad Marchand takes a dangerous knee on knee hit from Erik Johnson, chews out the refs for not calling anything, and gets 2 minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct.

As Jack says in the clip, this type of hit ends careers. Don't blame Marchand for losing his cool here."

Of course, Philadelphia Flyers fans at Wells Fargo Center were thrilled when the official gave Brad Marchand a two minute penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.

"Marchand booed as limps off after hit by Johnson. Fans roar as Marchand gets unsportsmanlike penalty."

As pointed out by Daily Faceoff, Marchand is the most suspended player in NHL history, getting banned eight different times and forking over $1.4 million in salary for fines.. His last suspension came back in February of 2022 after a high stick on a goaltender with the Pittsburgh Penguins earned him six games. At the time, Marchand said his emotions got the best of him when he hit Tristan Jarry with the high stick.
