This renowned NHL enforcer has just given a clear message to Matt Rempe on his future as a fighter in the NHL, giving him a stern warning about his style.

Chris 'Knuckles' Nilan Warns Rempe That His Fighting Style Needs Improvement

Matt Rempe is quickly emerging as the NHL's next big tough guy, as he has taken on nearly every enforcer the Rangers have faced during his early stint in the NHL. All the fighting has some fans worried for Rempe's health. Now, Chris Nilan, a retired enforcer, has chimed in with his thoughts, though, he isn't urging Rempe to stop fighting, just to get better at it.

"This kid, I love his willingness and all that stuff, but he has bad technique. He leaves himself wide open and he's going to get hurt again... I don't know if anybody is working with him... but he needs some help. It's great to be willing but if you're seeing Tweety Birds out there every fight that's not a good thing." - Chris Nilan

Rempe Fights With No Real Defense Which Makes it Exciting For Fans

One of the reasons Rempe's fights have been so exciting to watch is that he appears to only care about throwing big right hands, not defending against his opponent's punches. This is what Nilan is mentioning, however, it is also the reason that his fights have resulted in such heavy blows from both sides. Instead of the lengthy chess match between fighters on who will throw the first punch, Rempe just decides to exchange big rights.

If Rempe can learn to walk the line between offence and defence in his fights, he could assuredly become one of the toughest fighters to ever play.
