Monday may have marked the first game of the season for the Manitoba Moose of the AHL, but goaltender Mikhail Berdin appeared to be in mid-season form, making a save near the end of the first period that's an early candidate for Save of the Year.

While taking on the Toronto Marlies, Berdin attempts to make a pad save on Justin Brazeau, but the puck is deflected before it ever gets to him. It ends up on the stick of Kenny Agostino, who shoots it right away. Berdin, who is out of position because of the deflection, dives and makes an absolutely beautiful stick save to keep Manitoba in the lead 2-1. Check it out:

Unfortunately for Berdin, the Moose would end up losing to Toronto 3-2. But, we're willing to bet this save will be shown on highlight reels for some time, including end-of-year highlights.
