Francesco Aquilini, owner of the Vancouver Canucks, took to his Twitter account Saturday night to plead with fans to be patient after the team's poor start. He also slammed the media for "dealing in rumours and misinformation."

Aquilini's latter comment is a direct attack on talk of major changes in Vancouver. Many analysts have talked of potential trades to help the team, while others have suggested general manager Jim Benning is on the hot seat and could be gone before the end of this season.

"Contrary to what you may have read or heard, we're sticking to the path we're on: building on our core of young talent. Progression is not always a straight line. There is no easy fix, only patience, commitment, and hard work."

"Like [Brock] Boeser, [Elias] Pettersson, and [Quinn] Hughes, [Nils] Hoglander was an excellent pick. It looks like he'll be a great part of our future. Our hockey group believes [Vasily] Podkolzin will step right into the lineup as well."

Aquilini went on to say that GM Jim Benning and head coach Travis Green have his full confidence.

"I have no plans to make changes," said Aquilini.

Perhaps what Aquilini won't acknowledge is that Canucks fans have been patient. However, the team feels like it has regressed from last season and one of the big reasons behind that is some big names that were allowed to walk to free agency. Jacob Markstrom would be the biggest. Tyler Toffoli also comes to mind. Most fans have been attempting patience for some time, only to see the team take a step backwards.

"This has been a unique year for everyone," Aquilini said. *Roster changes, very little training camp, no pre-season, and just a few practice days. It takes time for new players to fit in and a new group chemistry to take hold, both on and off the ice."
