The Toronto Maple Leafs are set to do battle with the Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday, and rookie Matthew Knies has now thrown a major shot towards his hometown team.
An unnecessary cheap shot from Matthew Knies
Knies, who remains a rookie in the NHL took aim at his hometown team in what many would consider to be a hilarious jab at an upcoming opponent.
Matthew Knies says he has about 50-60 people going to the game against Arizona «which is probably a section in that arena.»
Despite the shot, there's no doubting that Knies will be excited to play his first game in Arizona in front of his hometown, alongside superstar Auston Matthews who will also be in front of his hometown crowd.
In 51 games this year, Knies has 9 goals and 22 points, and at 21-years of age, he may not be ready to be taking shots like this, but it shows the type of confidence that he has, even being in such a ruthless market like Toronto.
While Arizona don't have the veterans to be able to take a shot back at Knies, you can bet that when the puck drops on Wednesday, someone may take their chance to make a statement.
