Just days after the Columbus Blue Jacktets made it known that they had fired their GM Jarmo Kekalainen a NHL veteran puts his name in the ring for the position.

Dubinsky Puts His Name In For Blue Jackets GM Role

A 800 game legend and club legend Brandon Dubinsky put on social media that he has put his name in the ring to become the next General Manager of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

After managing my mite team today I'm throwing my hat in the ring for the @BlueJacketsNHL GM opening! You know how to reach me!

Now whether or not he is being serious about being a general manager remains unknown but it may be something the Blue Jackets look at after not succeeding under their prior GM in Kekalainen.

The Lack Of Success Under Kakalainen's Control

Jarmo Kekalainen who played 55 games in the NHL during the early to mid 90s became the General Manager of the Blue Jackets back in 2013 and served until February of this year.

The Blue Jackets fired Kekalainen after a 16-26-10 start to the season citing needing "a fresh perspective". Through his almost ten seasons with the team, the team has struggled to be a threat in the playoffs even with the likes of Rick Nash and Steve Mason.

The Blue Jackets made the playoffs five times and winning one regular playoff series and one in the bubble. It is safe to say that despite the best efforts of Kekalainen the team never succeeded to his hopes.

The team will look to have a restart at the deadline and NHL draft as they continue to build for the future.
