The incident involving five members of Team Canada from the 2018 WJC has been an ongoing saga for some time now, and after asking five players to surrender to London Police, things are closing in on official answers soon.
Major NHL consequences for all those involved
While they will all need to face official consequences which could be much, much worse, all five will face consequences from the NHL as well.
According to Emily Kaplan, those consequences involve suspensions or most likely contract termination, once police have announced their official charges.
Each of these players has taken a leave of absence from their respective teams, which has been paid.
If/when police announce charges, their statuses could change. Likely contract termination or suspension.
Thus far, all four of the active NHL players have been placed on a leave of absence and are being paid by their teams, but as more facts and legal announcements are revealed, this will certainly be updated.
If all five are found guilty, that will very likely be the end of their careers in the NHL, but for now the legal proceedings will begin and if found guilty, they should likely not play in the league again.
