The New York Rangers are looking to upgrade in a massive way ahead of the March 8 trade deadline, but according to reports, the Montreal Canadiens may no longer be an option.

NHL Insider reveals Rangers GM has major issues with Montreal

According to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, Chris Drury, General Manager of the New York Rangers and Jeff Gorton, Executive VP of Hockey Operations in Montreal are not on good terms, and it may ultimately limit a trade.
Friedman on a potential Monahan/NYR deal (32TP): "The whole Jeff Gorton and Rangers dynamic, let's just say they are not on each other's Christmas card list, let's just go with it, so that complicates the deal there, but that is the kind of player they're going to be looking for"
Being a GM in the NHL is all about building relationships, and unfortunately Drury hasn't done that in Montreal, and it may ultimately effect a potential deal for Sean Monahan.

Fans aren't happy on either side with this report

Unsurprisingly, fans have reacted in almost the same way, pointing out just how childish the whole situation appears to be, and just how bad of a look it is for both parties.
Who cares about Gorton's relationship with the Rangers? They're talking to Kent Hughes anyway.

If Drury is unwilling to upgrade his team because he doesn't like Gorton, he should be immediately stripped off his title, and go home crying to his mama.
This why we're not seeing any #NYR reps at MON games.
In sports you can truly never say never, so if Drury can deal with just Kent Hughes, things may look much better for a potential trade, but right now this story just makes the Rangers GM look silly as he aims to upgrade the roster.
