During the Panthers versus Wild game last night, an odd call made its way to the official scoresheet, leaving fans confused, since it isn't a call you see regularly in the NHL.

Rare Call Made on Official Scoresheet Leaves Fans Confused

Usually, NHL games are pretty efficiently run in terms of logistics and how the scoresheet works. While officiating might be different, usually the officials putting in the statistics and the penalties on the scoresheet are lights out.

However, during the game featuring the Minnesota Wild and the Florida Panthers, something odd happened on the scoresheet. The Wild were assessed a penalty for a Coach or Manager on the ice.

This left fans extremely confused, as it was not shown on the broadcast that anyone actually stepped on the ice. If they had, that surely would have been worth showing.

"Did someone actually step on the ice?"

Penalty Was an Error on The Part of the Official

There was enough commotion about the weird entry on the official scoresheet that Wild insider Michael Russo contacted the league to see what actually occurred. He was told that it was a mistake in the entry, and that it was actually a too many men call.

"League thinks off-ice official entered it wrong. No indication anybody went on ice. Maybe [Wild coach John] Hynes got a bench minor upset [Brandon] Duhaime got penalty off the faceoff with [Ryan] Lomberg."

The scoresheet has been updated to reflect what the correct call was, and fans can rest easy that they fixed the official scoresheet.
