Make-A-Wish organizations routinely make dreams come true for individuals with terminal illnesses. On Sunday, the organization made another wish come true.

Dream comes true for person with brain cancer

12-year-old Jackie Bateman lives with brain cancer and is a huge Colorado Avalanche fan. She was granted a day with the Avalanche as part of her Make-A-Wish dream, which, in her own words, was:
"Just to meet all of the players on the Colorado Avalanche and just see what they're like."

Jackie was able to watch the team practice from the bench and a few of the Avalanche players came over to talk to her.
Avalanche forward Logan O'Connor said this of the interaction:
"I think for us at the end of the day, it's a job but when you see someone like that and you see how much it means for them to come and hang out with us a little bit, it definitely puts it all into perspective for us and makes us enjoy it that much more."

Fredrik Olofsson added:
"It's easy to get caught up in your day-to-day stuff of chasing the puck and trying to get it in the other people's net but you realize every now and then that it's bigger than you."

Gift from MacKinnon and Drouin made Jackie's day

Jackie's favourite player was Nathan MacKinnon and he made sure to surprise her after the practice. He signed a stick for her that read: Your Pal.
She was also granted a stall in the dressing room right beside MacKinnon. What she said about it:
"Unbelievable. Not in a thousand years would I think that I would get my own locker in this locker room."

Jackie greatly enjoyed her day:
"The most amazing day of my life. This day means that I got through cancer, I survived, and I got my wish."

What an inspirational story.
