It was an accident, but a dangerous one all the same. One inch closer to the boards at the time and the official could have been seriously hurt.

Official Gets Hit into the Boards by Seattle Kraken Star

During last night's game between the Seattle Kraken and LA Kings, Kraken forward Eeli Tolvanen was attempting to chase a puck into to corner when he ran face-first into the back of the referee. The official, Furman South, headed head-first towards the boards, but managed to turn his head at the last second. Still, he was clearly shaken up.

As you can see, Tolvanen did make sure southl was ok before he skated away. South shook it off and remained in the game.

This is not the first time South has been hurt during a game this season. He took a stick to the face during the opening faceoff of the second period in a game between the Columbus Blue Jackets and San Jose Sharks on Nov. 10, 2023.
