The Detroit Red Wings made a major move by signing Patrick Kane. While this is a big offensive reinforcement, they must now cope with an injured Dylan Larkin and a suspended David Perron.

According to a recent report, the team could make a trade sooner than later, with a deal apparently imminent.

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period mentionned that the Red Wings have talked to other teams concerning one of their prospects, Jonatan Berggren.

"The #LGRW have been engaged in trade talks lately, per source. Jonatan Berggren, who was scratched in today's Grand Rapids game (that is still ongoing), is one of the players believed to be in recent discussions."

Berggren is in the last year of his three-year deal, worth $2.775 million. Last season, Berggren scored 15 goals and 13 assists, totaling 28 points in 67 games for the Red Wings.

This season, Berggren has five goals and 10 assists in 16 games in the AHL. In his six games with the Red Wings, he has scored two goals and one assist.

Specific trade partners for the Detroit Red Wings haven't been disclosed yet, but speculation about potential discussions with the Montreal Canadiens has arisen.

Detroit, according to Cap Friendly, has just over $4.378 million in salary cap space, which might be strategically used as the trade deadline on March 8 is getting closer.
