Flames May Be Forced to Trade For Goaltender After Gruesome Injury
The Calgary Flames have been pegged as the NHL's sellers this year, being open for trades since the start of the year. While they have been looking at adding long-term assets for a potential rebuild, now, they may be forced to trade for a goaltender.
During practice yesterday, Flames starting goaltender Jakob Markstrom was injured, taking a puck to the unprotected area of his hand. It was reported that Markstrom was bleeding pretty heavily from the hand as well.
Per @salimvalji G Markstrom took a puck to an unprotected part under his blocker, from experience those can be tricky. Perhaps @NHLFlames recall G Wolf 🐺 from @AHLWranglers.
Plenty of blood pouring from what appeared to be Markstrom's finger.
Flames Rumored to Be Moving Tanev and Hanifin Still
This is why #Flames need to trade Tanev asap.. he's gonna get hurt and be out for season pretty soon
Either of these players, if traded to the right team, could return a potential goaltender for the Flames, if they are in dire need of one. However, it will be interesting to see if the Flames think it is necessary to trade for a short-term gain over long-term asset building.
