The Seattle Kraken have been somewhat disappointing this year. After a surprising playoff run last season, many expected the team to compete for a top three spot in the Pacific division. So far their 4-6-3 record is only good for 5th place though and the team is lucky other teams in the division have struggled more than them. Now they are making a change that could have a huge impact on their season.

Seattle Kraken Call Up Top Prospect To NHL

Shane Wright, famously drafted 4th overall by the Kraken in 2022, has had an awkward development path since being drafted. His NHL club was able to work out a deal that had him playing in the AHL this season even though he would not normally be eligible. Now the point is moot as the team has called him up to the big squad.

Kraken Look To Wright The Ship

So far Wright has had four goals and six points through Coachella Valley's first seven games of the season. The Kraken haven't exactly been starved for offense this season but the team could use some kind of boost to get them back on track for a winning regular season.
Wright was lauded for his defensive responsibility in his draft year. Perhaps he can help bring a little bit of defensive prowess to the team that has struggled with giving up goals. While their goals for per game is around middle of the pack, their goal differential is among the worst in the league. Hopefuly Wright can help out on both ends of the ice. The team plays their next game tomorrow against a tough Avalanche squad.
