The Edmonton Oilers currently sit at 2-8-1 after a few weeks of action, and with their playoff hopes fading, it appears as though they're ready to make a blockbuster deal.

Due to his struggles, the Oilers officially placed Jack Campbell on waivers, with the expectation that they will promote Cal Pickard to the NHL roster, but with Stuart Skinner struggling too, there's no easy answer.

Now, the team have backed themselves into a corner, and their only answer is to make a blockbuster deal for a goaltender that could finally steal them some games and get them momentum this season.

Oilers linked to a superstar in a blockbuster deal

According to reports, the Oilers are now being linked to 2022-23 Vezina Trophy winner Linus Ullmark of the Boston Bruins, in a move that could completely revitalize the organization.

Ryan, would you trade Draisaitl and Foegele for...last years Vezina winner, DeBrusk, Poitras, Lysell and a 2026 1st rounder? The Central Registry would approved this proposed trade for cap and roster implications.

This idea comes from ESPN's John Buccigross, and while it may be a deal that's impossible to make happen, Ullmark has been stellar this season, posting a 2.30 GAA and a .926 save percentage, and if the Oilers are serious about competing, giving up one of their biggest stars may be the way to do it.
