One of the top junior leagues in all of Canada has implemented a mandatory neck guard policy in response to Adam Johnson's tragic passing.

WHL Mandates Neck Guards

The WHL has just announced that they will be mandating neckguards from here on out following Adam Johnson's passing.

The WHL announced today the adoption of mandatory neck guard protection for all players, effective Friday, November 3.

Mandatory neck guards are a massive step in the right direction as they put more emphasis on player safety and potentially saving lives.

The WHL has been a powerhouse for player development over the past few years producing some elite NHL talents such as Brayden Point, Seth Jones, Leon Draisaitl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and most recently, Connor Bedard.

The products of the WHL will now be wearing neck guards and will hopefully be safer on the ice as the hockey world moves towards a less dangerous sport.
