Malkin Frustrated With Team's Play Over Last Few Games

The Pittsburgh Penguins thought they were off to a good start this season, winning their first two games of the year, however, the good times didn't last long, as they have dropped 3 of their last 5 games in a disappointing fashion.
After their most recent loss on Saturday, Evgeni Malkin laid his frustration down on the table, calling out his team in the process.
"Great teams coming up on our schedule. We better start playing better. Playing smarter. Playing harder. Time to regroup. Tonight? No good. This game was just bad. I'm frustrated." - Malkin on the Penguins performance

Pens Experiencing Late Stage Growing Pains and Need to Turn it Around

This year was supposed to bring a big turnaround for the Penguins who missed the playoffs last season. Bringing in Kyle Dubas as the team's new manager and also acquiring the best defenseman in the NHL right now in Erik Karlsson was a signal that the Pens were going all in on another run before Malkin and Crosby retired.

The team is certainly in the latter stages of its Crosby-Malkin era but is still experiencing some growing pains as the new additions get acquainted to the Club. Malkin, though, is doing nothing short of pulling his weight so far this year. The 37-year-old has recorded 8 points in 5 games, 4 of those being goals. Hopefully, the rest of the team takes note of what he is doing.
In three games so far, Evgeni Malkin has two goals and four assists. 🚨
