Despite the NHL season having already started, there's still a lengthy list of free agents still waiting for their opportunity to arise with an NHL team this season. Among that list is one of the oldest players in the game right now, and it looks like he might be back soon.

Parise to Return?

According to a recent report by The Athletic, Zach Parise may be eyeing a return to the NHL this season, specifically with his former team, the New York Islanders.

Although the Islanders may have a hard time fitting Parise in given their current salary cap situation, it seems clear that both sides are interested in a reunion.

Teammates Lobbying For Parise's Return

It's not just Parise who wants to return to New York, however, as his teammates have been vocal about his potential return to the team.

"Zach, if you're watching, get back here," Mat Barzal said at a golf outing.

Per @reporterchris on Thursday, Zach Parise has resumed skating, and Parise said back in April it was #Isles or nowhere.

Could pressure from some of Long Island's biggest stars convince New York's front office to give in and bring back Parise on a one-year deal? Only time will tell, but it's certainly trending that way.
