In last night's game between the Maple Leafs and the Blackhawks, Connor Bedard, Auston Matthews, and Mitch Marner failed to add their names to the scoresheet. But other players stepped up. Andreas Athanasiou scored two points, and eight other Hawks scored a point in Toronto's first loss of the season.

However, that's not the only interesting thing that happened at the game.

David Pagnotta reported that Doug Armstrong, the St. Louis Blues' general manager, was at the game.

Trade Between Toronto and St. Louis Incoming?

The Maple Leafs and the Blues are both constrained by the salary cap. But Toronto's situation is worse, as they had to use the LTIR to stay within the limit.
That's why it would make more sense if something were brewing between the Blues and the Leafs.
St. Louis could be looking to offload one of their expensive defensemen, like Justin Faulk or Colton Parayko.
Brad Treliving might also be interested in these defensemen, as he has always made it clear he wants to bolster his blue line. Yesterday's game proved that the Leafs definitely need to make a move in that area.
