Oilers Make History With Addition To Front Office

The Edmonton Oilers announced a new hiring in their front office that has made history. Today the Oilers announced that they have hired former NCAA player and NWHL founder Dani Rylan Kearney as a regional scout.

We're pleased to announce that Dani Rylan Kearney has been added to the #Oilers hockey operations department as a regional scout.

Dani played for @GoNUwhockey before founding & serving as commissioner of the National Women's Hockey League. Welcome, @DaniRylan!

Kearney is the latest woman to join the NHL in a significant front-office role. The NHL is finally beginning to diversify their staff at all levels and this includes the hiring of Rylan.

Kearney played 2 seasons at Northeastern where she had 20 points in 70 NCAA games. She then went on to found the NWHL which was the pinnacle of professional women's hockey for several years catapulting the game to what it is now. She was commissioner of the league until 2020 when she stepped away.

Since leaving the NWHL she has been an executive consultant and helped grow a Long Island youth girls hockey program.

Now Kearney will take on a new challenge in scouting for the Edmonton Oilers. She will bring her hockey expertise and look to help get the Edmonton Oilers the Stanley Cup that has been so elusive over the years.
