The Winnipeg Jets started strong in 2022-23, but unfortunately fell apart in the second half of the season, and after moving on from both Blake Wheeler and Pierre-Luc Dubois, the future of this team is up in the air.

A veteran superstar in net

One player who has been key to any success this team has had in the past decade is goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, who continues to be one of the best goaltenders in the entire NHL.
In 445 career games, Hellebuyck has put together a 238-154-37 record with a .916 save percentage and 2.66 GAA, and now, there's a chance he leaves the Jets for the first time in his eight-year career.

A positive meeting?

There's been rumours flying all summer that the team could ultimately trade him or let him walk in free agency next summer, but now, the Jets General Manager has opened up on their recent meeting about the future.
It was a good meeting. You know I think we sat down and chatted and you know again you know he's a pro. He's been at this for a long, long time now. A lot of the focus of the meeting and that was exactly what I said like we are here to try to win.

This quote doesn't confirm that Hellebuyck will be back with the Jets long-term, but it appears that the two sides are certainly on positive terms going forward, but until they can finally put together a deal to keep him around long-term, it will continue to be concerning for Jets fans.
