The Edmonton Oilers have had some big moves to make this summer as they fill out their roster, and in doing so, they've reunited with a former Oilers forward Sam Gagner.

A low-risk, high-reward move

Gagner has played over 1,000 games in the NHL with Winnipeg, Detroit, Columbus, and Edmonton, and after playing 48 games with the Jets a season ago, he's now looking for a role with the Oilers.

The two parties came together on a PTO this summer, but now, it appears that the career of the 34-year-old could be in danger after a recent, terrible health update.

A dreadful update

According to a report, Gagner, who is recovering from surgery on both hips will not be able to take the ice for game action in training camp/pre-season, and it could cost him his spot with the Oilers and worse, his career.

Sam Gagner who had surgery on both hips will only practise in camp and won't play games. In a PT0 He will be evaluated in a month and might go to Bakersfield.

There's still a chance that Gagner can get back and become a presence in the Oilers' bottom six, but this latest update doesn't look good, so we will hopefully have an update as the season draws near.
