According to Dan Murphy of Sportsnet, the Vancouver Canucks have signed goaltender Braden Holtby to a two-year contract, worth $8.6 million ($4.3 million AAV).

Holtby, 31, was drafted in the fourth round, 93rd overall by the Washington Capitals in the 2008 NHL entry draft. In 468 career regular season games, he has a record of 282 wins, 122 losses, 46 overtime/shootout losses, a 2.53 GAA, a .916 save percentage, and 35 shutouts. In 97 career playoff games, Holtby has a record of 50 wins, 46 losses, a 2.13 GAA, a .926 save percentage, and 7 shutouts.

He won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Washington Capitals during the 2017-18 season.

Internationally, Holtby was a member of Canada's roster for their 2016 World Cup of Hockey championship, but didn't make any appearances.

Holtby's contract in Vancouver does not include a no movement clause, and it's a strong possibility he will be left exposed during the 2021 NHL expansion draft, as the Canucks will likely go into the future with Thatcher Demko as their number one goaltender.
