Ross Colton has yet to play for the Colorado Avalanche, but the team seems keen on keeping him around. The Avs has given Colton a new deal that comes with a big raise over what he made last season.

Colton, who had filed for arbitration after being traded to Colorado from the Tampa Bay Lightning for a second-round pick, has been given a four-year contract that carries an average annual value of $4 million.

Colton's last two-year deal with the Lightning was for $1.125 million.

The 23-year-old had 16 goals and 32 points in 81 games last season. The season before was a career year across the board for Colton, as he put up 22 goals and 17 assists for 39 points in 79 games. Colton was drafted in the fourth round, 118th overall, in 2018. He has his name on the Stanley Cup from the Bolts 2021 Championship.
