Columbus Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekäläinen stated this morning that he has been in contact with another team's GM, per Blue Jackets beat writer Brian Hedger:
Offseason Transactions so Far
The Blue Jackets acquired defenseman Damon Severson from the New Jersey Devils and immediately signed him to an 8-year, $50 million contract. They also acquired defenseman Ivan Provorov from the Philadephia Flyers, two significant improvements to the Blue Jackets back end.
On draft day, with the third overall pick Columbus drafted Adam Fantilli and signed him to a 3-year entry level contract just days later.
With two defenseman already acquired via trades, one might assume Kekäläinen is seeking out a forward to improve their top 6, and help players like Johnny Gaudreau and Patrik Laine.
