Ekman-Larsson heading to the Eastern Conference

According to multiple reports, Oliver Ekman-Larsson is expected to sign with the Florida Panthers at the start of Free Agency.

Darren Dreger of TSN first reported the deal, which was confirmed by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

According to Vancouver Hockey reporter Rick Dhaliwal, the deal is for one-year, at $2.25M

Ekman-Larsson, 31, was bought out by the Vancouver Canucks, having spent two season with the Canucks, being acquired in a blockbuster deal that sent him and Conor Garland to Vancouver in a deal that gave Vancouver's 9th pick to Arizona. The pick was used by the Coyotes to select Dylan Guenther.

Ekman-Larsson was set to make $8.25M per season until 2027 prior to his buyout. The Canucks will pay just over $2.1M until 2031 after buying the Defenseman out.

Ekman-Larsson had 2 Goals and 22 Points in 54 Games with Vancouver this season, going to the Stanley Cup finalist Panthers looking for veteran help on their blueline.

Ekman-Larsson has played in 902 NHL Games in 13 Seasons, a two-time NHL All-Star. This will be his first season in the Eastern Conference, having played west his entire NHL career with Arizona & Vancouver.
