Matthews Contract Demands Revealed To The Public
Auston Matthews has had his trade demands revealed to the public and the value is insanely high which could be bad news for the Leafs.
Matthews' Expensive Price Tag
Auston Matthews has been one of the league's top goal-scorers since breaking into the league back in 2016. Never posting a season where he scored under a 40-goal pace, Matthews has proven he is one of the league's most valuable assets.
Coming off of a down year, posting 40 goals and 85 points, Matthews still desires to get paid like he is the best player in the league. It was recently revealed what his demands are for his next contract.

Highest Paid Player
This would make him the highest-paid player in the NHL and would see him signing one of the richest contracts in history. Typically a deal over $10 million is a long-term deal sees the player sign for the max term. However, Matthews is not the typical superstar. His last contract was 5 years and it is clear he wants to maximize his wealth in Toronto.
If Matthews and the Leafs cannot come to an agreement, he will likely walk in free agency to a team willing to pay him whatever he desires. This would be disastrous for the Leafs so they need to lock Matthews up as soon as possible.
