We've just received some utterly shocking news coming out of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. You're not going to believe this story, so keep reading to find out more.

London Nationals Owner Suspended

Paul Duarte, the owner of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) club, the London Nationals, has been suspended for two years following an investigation from the Ontario Hockey Federation. Duarte was found to have offered up a bounty of $100 to his players to injure an opposing skater on the Komoka Kings.

How a leader and representative of junior hockey could set such a horrible example is beyond comprehensible, and we're disgusted by these actions.

OHF Executive Director Speaks on the Issue

Phillip McKee, the Executive Director of the Ontario Hockey Federation, said the following in regard to the investigation and suspension of Duarte from the GOJHL.

«We want to make the game a safe and inclusive place for all individuals. Owners are a leader in the game and they must ensure integrity in their conduct at all times.»

It's clear that this type of behavior isn't tolerated by the OHF, but two years seems somewhat light considering what Duarte was found guilty of.

It should be noted that the incident in question took place all the way back in 2021, meaning Duarte was allowed to continue his position as the Nationals' owner for two years.
