The Vancouver Canucks are somewhat in no-mans land as a franchise, but it appears their direction for the draft has been decided.

With the talent being so incredible in this class, Canucks GM Patrik Allvin has revealed that the team is trying to trade up.

Canucks Attempting to Trade Up

After a very 'middle-of-the-road' season in Vancouver, highlighted by coaching controversies and the trade of their Captain, the Canucks ended up with the 11th overall pick.

11th overall is a great slot, but Allvin is reportedly attempting to move up. The elite talent available in the top-10 could be franchise altering, as the Canucks could get their hands on the illustrious Matvei Michkov, Oliver Moore (who has been recorded to be faster than Connor McDavid at 18), Ryan Leonard, or defensemen David Reinbacher and Tom Willander.

«I'm looking at options to trade up, if that's an option,»

While he has pledged not to make a trade just for the sake of making a trade, the will is there.

Big Price to Pay

The 2023 draft class is better than any we've seen since at least 2015, but probably since 2003 or 2005. The price to move up in this draft will be astronomical, but if the Canucks can draft a future game-changer it'll be worth it.

It will be interesting to see if Allvin can salvage some of his reputation with his lofty draft-day goals. Definitely keep an eye out for some fun moves on the 27th!
