Back at the 2022 trade deadline, the Anaheim Ducks and the Vegas Golden Knights completed a trade, but in the end, it couldn't happen.

Evgenii Dadonov was supposed to end up in Anaheim, but stayed in Vegas for the end of the season before joining the Montreal Canadiens. Dadonov had put Anaheim on the list of teams he didn't want to be traded to.

The NHL was blamed for this, and now there's a new development about the issue.

Anaheim Asks for Compensation

Elliotte Friedman, on 32 Thoughts, revealed that the Ducks officially asked for a compensatory pick at the next draft.

As Derek Lee reported on Twitter:

"According to Elliotte, the Ducks have asked the NHL for a compensatory draft pick for the botched Dadonov trade a few years ago, as the incident was not on their side.

I've heard that the league was at least considering the idea."

It's surprising that the NHL is actually considering the idea. We could see Anaheim get a surprise pick at the draft! We don't know what round it'll be, but a third or fourth-round pick would make sense.
