The Rangers have their number one all locked up but are looking to sign a quality backup to have a stronger team.

Igor Shesterkin is the number one goaltender in New York and likely is for a long time. However, many Rangers fans want a better backup goalie as Jaroslav Halak declined a lot last season.

In response to this, the Rangers will be targeting three goalies to be their potential backup.

Of these three, each has gotten experience as a starter. Jonathan Quick is arguably the greatest American goaltender of all time and despite being well past his prime, he is still a very solid option as a backup. Quick could try and compete for a cup as a backup behind Shesterkin.

Alex Nedeljkovic was once promising with the Carolina Hurricanes but after being traded to Detroit, the netminder has struggled bouncing between the NHL and AHL. Playing for the Rangers could be his chance to turn his career around.

David Rittich started for Calgary back in 2019-20 but since has struggled to play more than 1/4 of the season. Last season was his best statistically since starting in Calgary and New York could be where he provides solid goaltending behind Shesterkin.

Regardless of who the Rangers decide to bring in, these three are all very solid options and have earned their keep in the NHL.
