There is likely to be a lot of movement in the NHL, probably starting as early as the 2023 Draft in late June. Meanwhile, Sportsnet Insider Elliotte Friedman believes some of the action over the summer may involve a star goaltender going to a team in the Western Conference.

During his latest 32 Thoughts podcast, Friedman stated the LA Kings seems ready, willing and able to move away assets in order to acquire a major goaltending name.

Joonas Korpisalo, acquired at the last trade deadline, is a free agent as soon as the market opens. He played in all six playoff games for the Kings against the Edmonton Oilers in the 1st round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. That leaves LA with Cal Peterson and Phoenix Copley under contract, neither of which has proven to be a number one netminder, let alone a star. Connor Hellebuyck of the Winnipeg Jets becomes a free agent after the 2023-24 season, and many are predicting a trade sometime before the year is up in order to avoid losing him for nothing. Perhaps one of the Boston Bruins goaltenders, Linus Ullmark or Jeremy Swayman, could be a target as well.
