Nazem Kadri's embarrassing effort costs the Calgary Flames as they fight for their playoff lives
A year after losing in the second round to the Edmonton Oilers, the Calgary Flames were hopeful for a possible resurgence. Unfortunately that never came to be as the Flames are currently sitting outside of a playoff position.
With the Flames facing off against the Chicago Blackhawks, the Flames were in desperate need of 2 points. In a must win game everyone expected the Flames to put forward their best effort. In the final minute of the 1st period, Nazem Kadri gave everything but his best effort.
In the Blackhawks zone, Kadri makes an ill advised lazy back pass to no one. The Hawks pick up the puck and dump it deep into the Flames zone. As Kadri goes back he makes another lazy play turning the puck over to Boris Katchouk. Katchouk sends the puck out in front to Jujhar Khaira who buries a goal giving the Hawks the lead.
The Hawks would win the game 4-2 and deliver a serious blow to the Flames playoff hopes. The Flames are back in action tonight in a must win against the Winnipeg Jets in a game that could easily decide the final Western Conference Wild Card spot.
