In today's edition of hockey players are absurdly tough we've got Edmonton Oilers defenseman Vincent Desharnais. Drafted in the 7th round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Desharnais has appeared in his first 5 games in the big leagues this season posting 3 assists and a +5 rating so far. Not too shabby.

Aside from his strong play for the Oilers thus far, he has caught the attention of hockey media for another reason: the guy is tough as nails.

According to Jason Gregor of The Daily Faceoff, Desharnais broke his nose early in Saturday night's matchup with the Vegas Golden Knights. After having his nose reset not once - not twice - but three times, Desharnais was back in the game.

That's not all...in the third period of the Oilers' 4-3 win, Desharnais dropped the gloves with Vegas forward Keegan Kolesar, who is a tough son of a gun in his own right. So with a busted beak, Desharnais challenged one of the NHL's tough guys...um, okay?

Think that had a positive impression on the Oilers brass?
