According to TSN's Chris Johnston, the Ottawa Senators have placed rookie forward Jake Lucchini on waivers for the purpose of assigning him to the American Hockey League.

Lucchini, 27, made his NHL debut back on December 14th against the Montreal Canadiens and followed that up by scoring his first NHL goal on January 1st against the Buffalo Sabres.

The Trail (British Columbia) native signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins as an undrafted free agent out of college in 2019. After parts of three seasons with the Penguins and Canadiens organizations, Lucchini signed an AHL deal with Belleville and that turned his career around. In his first season with the Belleville Senators, he had 51 points in 72 games, which earned him an NHL contract with Ottawa for the 2022-23 season.

In 11 games this season for Ottawa, Lucchini has one goal, no penalty minutes and is a minus-two.
