It was 10 years ago, February 1st of 2013, since the home of the Montreal Canadiens had seen it. Defenceman P.K. Subban and goaltender Carey Price reunited Thursday to show Montreal Canadiens fans a celebration that was banned by a former coach.

After announcing his retirement last September, Subban was invited to the Bell Centre Thursday night as a sign of appreciation for his years with the Canadiens. The fan-favourite, who was later traded to the Nashville Predators for Shea Weber in a move no one saw coming at the time, invited Price to celebrate with him. The two took part in their beloved but short-lived triple low-five ritual.

Subban and Price were just youngsters with the Habs Alon 2013, and would celebrate wins with a move reserved just for the two of them. Head coach Michel Therrien, known around the league for his lack of patience with anything considered outside the norm, barred the move from happening again as Subban was returning from injury. The team had agreed to one uniform celebration for wins, which involved players skating to centre ice and raising their sticks to the audience.

"It's a team concept," said Therrien. "You have to respect the game, the other team and the fans."

Price is now on long-term injured reserve, but it's highly doubtful he will ever play again. Subban, to no one's surprise, is doing hockey commentary in the United States. Therrien was in his second stint with the Habs as head coach in 2013. He was fired in 2017.
