During last night's game against the Philadelphia Flyers, Nashville Predators' defender Mark Borowiecki was stretchered off the ice after an awkward collision into the end boards. There was nothing dirty or malicious on the play, simply a routine breakout gone awry.

The Predators defenseman was rushed to Vanderbilt Medical Center, and the team offered the following update shortly after the incident:

''When Mark Borowiecki left Bridgestone Arena he was conscious and had movement in all of his extremities. He has been transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for further testing and observation. We will share more details on his condition as they become available.''

That is obviously great news, all things considered. Still, the situation was as scary as they come in sports, and the way Borowiecki just melted onto the ice was very discouraging.

Today, the team issued another update, indicating that the NHL veteran is back home and resting, although his return is not imminent.

We are all hoping for a speedy recovery for the Boro Cop, who is one of the league's most well-liked and respected individuals.
