The New York Rangers have signed PTO forward Jimmy Vesey to a one-year, minimum contract:

Vesey, 29, played last season with the New Jersey Devils, primarily in a bottom-six, penalty killing role, where he actually thrived, contrary to popular belief. Although the forward managed just 15 points, he was critical on the Devils' 14th ranked penalty kill.

The Rangers needed cheap options up front, and they got one. Meanwhile, Vesey keeps his career alive one more year.

Watch for Vesey to occupy a spot around the Rangers' fourth line and penalty kill. He could float around the top-six if injury strikes, but ideally he is not there very long.
