After struggling down the stretch last season, veteran forward Andrew Ladd failed his physical ahead of Arizona's training camp and will be placed on injured reserve, not LTIR. If he were to be placed on LTIR, the Coyotes would be below the salary cap floor.

If Ladd doesn't play a game during the 2022-23 season, as is widely expected, then per the terms of a trade between New York and Arizona, the Coyotes would receive a third round pick in the 2023 draft from the Islanders.

Ladd, 36, was traded to the Coyotes in July 2021 after a rough tenure with the Islanders that was filled with injuries. In 51 games with Arizona last season, the Maple Ridge (British Columbia) native had 12 points (seven goals, five assists), 47 penalty minutes and was a minus-20.
