According to SkyNews, Bill Foley -- sitting owner of the Vegas Golden Knights -- is in the final stages of the acquisition of Premier League Football Club, AFC Bournemouth. The team's current owner, Maxim Demin -- a Swiss national -- has poured over £60 million into the club's facilities ahead of the sale, showing continued support for the club's future.

Foley, 77, is looking to finalize the deal before the World Cup to be held this November in Qatar. The sale will see the American financier assume a 100% stake in the South Coast club.

The Vegas Golden Knights have had an exciting beginning chapter under Foley's ownership, including a Stanley Cup Final appearance in their inaugural 2018 campaign. If AFC Bournemouth supporters should know one thing about Foley, it is that he is not shy about making big splashes.

The Golden Knights are on their third head coach in 6 seasons despite having missed the playoffs only once, and they have a reputation of being as ruthless as they are active. They traded away future Hall of Famer Marc-Andre Fleury for pennies, and this summer they traded away forwards Max Pacioretty and Evgenii Dadonov for the combined return of: future considerations and retired all-but-retired Shea Weber's contract.

Bournemouth recently earned a promotion to the Premier League after a two-year relegation, and they are currently in search of a new manager. The search has taken longer than normal; Scott Parker was fired on August 31, and it is assumed that the new ownership group wants to tap their own guy for the job.

Six matches into the current season, Bournemouth sits 13th in the Premier League table with a 2-1-3 record and a -13 goal differential. Which, in football, is a large gap over just six matches. What else is to be expected by a manager-less club, I suppose.
